Emily Thomas Emily is at Studio #10 during the 2019 POST tour.
This is my 15th year as a public school art teacher, which I enjoy thoroughly. But, my passion for teaching goes hand in hand with my passion for painting. I am in love with color and texture. As is common with a Gemini, I have two main “gigs” going on right now with my paintings. I adore dogs, so I use my realist painting skills to capture their wonderful personalities. I take commissions and paint small 6”x6” portraits. Then, to appease my playful side, I paint large-scale (ie. 3’x5’) somewhat-abstract scenes inspired by nature using sand to spur my imagination, and offer the viewer an impression of a place or a feeling that was evoked in the outdoors. I add color to nature’s sand painting and bring my impressions to life using vivid colors of acrylic paint.
