Brian Egan grew up in the Midwest but as soon as he had a taste of the western parts of the country, he felt destined to move there. He moved to Oregon in 1980, drawn by the diversity of mountains, streams and ocean. He started a general contractor business in Bend and then moved to Corvallis to be with his future wife Kris who was attending Oregon State University.
His training in carpentry and woodworking came in handy building furniture for their home and he gradually began adding artistic touches to his work. It was not until he retired in 2017 that he turned his attention to being a full-time artist, specializing in wood sculpture and encaustic wax painting, with the natural world as his theme.
His work has been shown at The Arts Center, The Benton County Museum and The LaSells Stewart Center.
