Jennifer is participating in the 2026 POST tour.

I am Jennifer Jo Deily, now a local Oregon artist focusing on the natural environment.  I have been fascinated by wildlife throughout my life and love to capture the animals’ expressions, nature, and personalities through my artwork.  I work mostly in oil but also enjoy working in watercolors, acrylics and other mediums.  Through my paintings I have found growth, strength, and endurance which have allowed me to bring out emotion found my art.

I have my BFA from the University of Utah, where I was awarded a year’s competitive scholarship which recognized artistic skill in painting landscape and wildlife.  I have exhibited frequently both Oregon and Utah and have received several awards for my work.

I remember always being fascinated with animals and art, and I love connecting the two.  Art has always been a way of communicating and expressing myself. Most of my art ideas come from my photography and my imaginative doodles. Art has always been a valuable way of expression and communication for me.  Working in oil gives me the ability to achieve an expansive range of colors from bright and vivid to soft and muted in my paintings.
I am always excited to start a new piece of artwork.  I use combination of techniques mixing bold, vivid colors and strong texture to explore and bring out the characteristics of my subjects, capturing their expressions of wonder and mystery on the painting.  I work in many different mediums but I enjoy oil because of the richness of their strong colors.  I enjoy mixing the diverse colors and then layering the paint.  This creates a way for me to capture the mood and strength of the subjects of my work.
