Art points me in the direction I want to go. It is my place of thought and wonder. It is my way of understanding that we are all connected. And, it is my way of portraying that idea, asking myself again and again, "have I gone as deep as I can? Or is there another level I can take it to?" The materials I use are many and are unrestricted. I am hungry to discover new "tools" and media that will tell my story. I am willing to try anything but I have favorites. Currently I have returned to my first love, begun as a child, fiber arts. I learned to sew by making very crude clothing for my dolls. I sewed everything throughout my life. I was forced to stop working with my hands in my 40's, due to a chronic disease. I gave away all of my tools and materials except my sewing machine. Now, after qualifying for a miraculous medical device I am returning to fiber; albeit, some would argue that my newest fascination is destroying that fiber. It is true, as it involves melting synthetic fibers and in a fraction of a second I can literally melt it away! Collage; found objects; paint, luscious paint!; encaustics; silk paper; they all beckon me.
