Nature has inspired me for as long as I can remember. It has nourished me, held me and propelled me forward. As a child hiking the trails of Mount Rainier and studying the birds out my kitchen window, to my adult explorations of Oregon forests, landscapes, and beaches, my connection to nature is what I choose to express most as an artist.
To share this connection in my art, I paint my impressions as I conjure images of forests, flowers, and fauna. Influenced by fabric design and printmaking, I use layers of paint and hand carved stamps to create organic complexities while maintaining an overall simplicity of form - showcasing nature’s delicate yet structured biology. I like to create accessible design elements within my paintings by keeping forms recognizable yet expressive. I also celebrate nature with vivid colors and lyrical gestural lines, using acrylics to quickly access layers of depth, history, and purpose. I work to immerse myself and the viewer into every element of the painting and often
