Most of my artworks are done in acrylics on canvas. I like the flexibility of acrylic paints – using thick layers of paint with unconventional tools (such as credit cards and kabob sticks) or adding water and layering thin washes or even drawing into the wet paint creating texture and interest. I also experiment with cut paper and vibrant colors. Most of my paintings tend to be semi-abstract.
I have a BFA from Northern Arizona University and have worked in the graphic and publishing field for over 25 years and more recently began on my painting journey. Thanks to my artistic mother and creative father I have marinated in the art world much of my life. The spark to paint was fanned in an acrylic class taught by Oregon’s Earl Hamilton who helped turn painting into an enjoyable, playful experience.
