Claire Elam
Claire Elam is an artist from Nevada, currently living in Oregon with a BFA in painting and ceramics from Bennington College in Vermont. Claire has worked in oil, watercolor, and collage painting as well as mid to high fire ceramics. Her ceramic work often explores the permanency of clay and the impermanence of the human body. Claire’s process uses assembled elements of wheel thrown and hand-building techniques in order to leave evidence of touch and manipulation. Currently, her work focuses on the poetic similarities in human relationships and our relationships with nature with many pieces being inspired by northwest imagery and poems by the likes of Mary Oliver, Charles Bukowski, and E.E. Cummings.
