Charlotte Anthony Gordon trained in zoology and animal behavior before switching to a life style devoted to ceramic art. Her zoological background is reflected in sculptures of favorite animals such as toads and horses, while the influence of other cultures show up in forms reminiscent of cave drawings and mythological beings. She has pursued the subtleties found in wood and gas firings ever since settling in Corvallis in 1991. A workshop in Florence Italy inspired a new direction, with the ancient material terra cotta clay. “As a child, I loved to make “mixtures” in the kitchen. Now I make mixtures in the studio. Some are successes, others not. i am thrilled when a creation speaks to another person”
