Gary Irwin Gary will be at studio #9 during the 2026 POST tour.
From his early beginnings of crafting a wagon with no wheels at the age of six, to becoming a seasoned builder of homes for over 32 years, Gary has always been deeply connected to the art of creation. After relocating to Oregon in the 1970s from Wisconsin, he purchased a lathe and began following his true passion: woodworking. In 2019, he founded Blue Door Woodcraft, where he merges his extensive experience with his love for nature's beauty.
Specializing in turning unique bowls, Gary views each piece as both a functional work of art and a tribute to the natural world. By using locally rescued trees and incorporating inlay materials such as seashells he personally collects, semi-precious stones, and epoxy resin, he ensures that every bowl is a one-of-a-kind creation. As a commitment to sustainability, he processes his own wood and uses only food-safe finishes.
