I have been fusing glass since about 2000, painting since about 1980, weaving since about 1975 and sewing since about 1956. Even though quite a variety of tools and materials are needed to create in these disciplines, I think the outcome for my work can have two things in common…. color and texture. It’s fairly easy to visualize these two elements in painting, or sewing, or weaving, but maybe not so straightforward in glass. Of course glass comes in countless colors, but we usually think of glass as being smooth. By using various heat treatments, and adding bits and pieces to the glass, I can create a new and more tactile surface. I like to think my painting, weaving, sewing and glass are all pretty to look at AND interesting to touch!
