Beth Rietveld, fiber artist from Corvallis, has been sewing since she was in 4-H in Cook County, Illinois at the age of 12. Using up fabric scraps became her introduction to quilting.
For over 6 years, Beth has been making baskets from fabric-covered clothesline. She has made well over 600 baskets and has taught several basket classes in Albany, Corvallis and Philomath as well as in Tokyo and Paris.
Retired in 2012 from OSU after 32 years, Beth was most recently the Director of the Women's Center. A member of three fiber arts groups: the Marys River Quilt Guild, the Contemporary Fiber Arts Guild and a small group of art quilters called Loosely Bound has filled her free time. She is always learning new techniques in quilting, fiber arts, fabric dyeing and most recently, mosaic art.
